Drawing hands may be one of the hardest subjects to master. Most troubles artists run into when drawing hands are either mis-sizing the fingers, interacting with an object, or putting the thumb on the wrong side of the hand. And it has most artists just resorting to hiding the hands behind the character’s back or in their pockets.
However, the secret to drawing great hands is actually very simple. Use your own hand as reference!
You can also use images online but you’ll be a bit limited to perspectives and hand position choices.
Understanding the size of fingers are important as well if you want your work to look a bit more interesting. It doesn’t have to be completely accurate or realistic depending on your choice of style, but enough to understand the point.
Hope this helps! See you next week, Artists.
