The 2018 Winter Formal dance swayed it’s way with a variety of cultured music that filled the MPR on the night of February 2nd.

The candidates were anxious to learn who would be royalty. Among the nominees was David Anyakora, stating that the theme was very unique due to it never been used.

“I think it’s really good considering our Hispanic population and it was well put together,” Anyakora said.

Many believed the same as he did.

ASB President Odalys Palomares stated that the theme was unique and different.

“We’ve never had a Mexican Theme cause it’s always the same themes used constantly,” Palomares said.

The winter formal queen, senior Vanessa Vega, said she felt shocked and very grateful as she heard her name through the speakers.

“I would have never thought I would win because I don’t know many people and I feel accomplished because I did something senior year,” Vega said.

Throughout the week of Winter Formal, there were many surprises as in how people were asking their loved ones to the dance. The whole week consisted of proposals to the dance.

Although many could concur on the theme and music being great and unique, others did not agree with it.

“There’s too much Mexican music in my opinion,” Valerie Rodriguez said. “They should play more R&B music.”

Justin Zavala, who was voted winter formal king, stated he would not change anything about the theme. Although he is only a freshman, he was nominated and won.

“I feel relieved cause I won because I did not campaign,” he said

As the the night progressed, the dance came to an end. Many went on to continuing the party while others went to their safe havens to rest up. As the people were exiting the premises, the compliments of the dance could be heard.

“It’s aight foo,” could be heard, as senior Megan Almado stated her opinion to her boyfriend.
