The students of Moreno Valley High School decided to wear pink for the month of October, which is the month that represents Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

National Breast Cancer Awareness month was established in October 1985, when The American Cancer Society and the pharmaceutical division of  Imperial Chemical Industries teamed up.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month happens every October. Many people come out and support by wearing pink or running marathons for Breast Cancer survivors. Breast Cancer Awareness Month gives a chance to raise awareness of  the importance of Breast Cancer.

Moval recognized it, just as we recognize any important day, week, or month to commemorate an important cause, like red ribbon week or yellow ribbon week. Breast cancer awareness is important because many have died from having that type of  cancer, especially mothers. There have been children who have lost their mother from it, and maybe some students at Moval who have lost a loved one from the  cancer.

The students recognized breast cancer awareness and showed support by wearing pink.

Taylor Jones, a junior at Moreno Valley High said, “It feels good coming to support, it feels nice to know that they feel nice that other people support women with Breast Cancer.’’

Daniel Narvaez, senior, was asked his opinion on breast cancer and he said, “I feel like there should be better treatment and further research on breast cancer but also cancer in general.”
